Srinagar, Mar 14 (KNO): In a significant breakthrough, Police in Ganderbal on Friday have successfully solved a theft case, apprehending five individuals and recovering stolen gold valued at lakhs of rupees. On 12/09/2024, Police Station Lar received a written complaint from Abdul Rehman Shah resident of Check Yangoora stating there in that during the intervening night of 11-12/09/2024, unknown persons had entered his home and made off with gold and cash, a police spokesman said in a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). Accordingly, police said that a case vide FIR number 42/2024 was registered and an investigation was initiated. “Through meticulous investigation, police identified and summoned several suspects for questioning, including Imtiyaz Ahmad Gooru from Authkhroo Rabitar (currently residing in Parimpora), Hilal Ahmad Dar from Gund Roshan Rabitar, Adil Ahmad Sofi from Gund-Roshan Rabitar, Javid Ahmad Mir from Guzhama Ganderbal and Lateef Ahmad Dar from Wangipora Sumbal. During questioning, the accused confessed to the crime and revealed their involvement in multiple thefts across various police stations in the valley,” police said. Based on their disclosures, police recovered stolen gold items worth Rs 5,50,588, including 03 golden pounds, 08 gold rings, 02 pairs of earrings, 01 pair of jumkas, and a golden chain. Additionally, an Alto car bearing registration number JK01J-7340, used in the commission of the crime, was seized. The recovery of the stolen property and the arrest of the perpetrators reflect the J&K Police’s unwavering commitment to protecting the community and upholding law and order, police said—(KNO)
